Santa Clara City Council Seat 4 (Vote for 1)

The candidates are: Alma Jimenez and Jerry Marsalli

Warning: There is substantial political action committee spending (mailers, ads, robocalls) for Marsalli, Davis, Mlnarik, and Gillmor from the South Bay Labor Council (Davis and Mlnarik), Police Officers PAC (Davis and Marsalli), Chamber (Marsalli), and 49ers stadium contractors (Davis, Mlnarik, Marsalli, and Gillmor).

Nadeem and O'Neill have received 1 mailer each from the Santa Clara Chamber PAC and ads.


Alma Jimenez - student

Ms. Jimenez is a business management and health technologies student. Her background is in the healthcare industry, with over 15 years experience, and she has worked for such organizations as Kaiser Permanente.

(Note: Ms. Jimenez did not submit a ballot statement to the Registrar of Voters.)

Family:
Married 25 years, Age 51, Santa Clara homeowners, lived in Santa Clara County for 24 yearsm Fluent in English and Spanish
Husband is in sales supporting the construction industry
3 adult children, all attended public schools K-12, Daughter graduated from college, currently is a pre-school teacher

Education:
A.A. Degree in Labor Studies, San Jose City College, Expected 2013
Certificate from the International Business College, Texas
Certified Health Technician, CA License in Hemodialysis

Experience:
Healthcare Industry, 22 years, including:

  • Patient Health Information Management, Kaiser Permanente, Santa Clara
  • Western Imaging Network, San Jose
  • San Jose Medical Group, San Jose
  • Was a member of SEIU - UHW Local 250

City Team Ministries, San Jose, 5 years, coordinating:

  • Family Services
  • Working with Immigrants
  • Food Pantry/Holiday Giving and Outreach

Currently working part-time in office management while finishing Labor Studies Degree.

Community Service:

  • Path Ways Hospice, Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Palo Alto, CA
  • Missionary work in Mexico (building homes, providing food stuffs)
  • Providing meals, clothing, and blankets for the homeless


Jerry Marsalli - Retired Police Lieutenant

City Pension Note: As Mr. Marsalli notes in his ballot statement, he is retired from the Santa Clara Police Department, and therefore receives a pension from the city.  He received $1000 from the Santa Clara Police Officers PAC and the SC Firefighters PAC ($500 from each).

49ers Stadium Concern - Mr. Marsalli endorsed the stadium, and allowed his name and picture to be used in Yes on J/Santa Clarans for Economic Progress mailers. He accepted $1000 from the 49ers stadium contractor, Devcon, and also accepted numerous large campaign contributions from construction companies not based in Santa Clara.
