Candidates for Santa Clara County Board of Education Area 5 (Vote for 1)
The candidates are: Anna Song and David Neighbors.
Ballot designations and ballot statements are from the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters, as submitted by the candidates.
(Note - a political action committee (PAC) has formed to attempt to influence this face by running a highly negative campaign against our Santa Clara Trustee Anna Song. The PAC, called the Santa Clara County Schools PAC, is led by political consultants in San Jose (Jude Barry) and San Francisco (Jay Rosenthal) who were last seen in Santa Clara as consultants for the 49ers Yes on J stadium campaign (Jude Barry was paid $55,000 in Yes on J to dupe Santa Clarans into voting for the stadium and has been paid $30,000 by the Santa Clara County Schools PAC.)
Campaign finance reports reveal that $250,000 of outside money is paying for this PAC, including the wife of Apple Founder Steve Jobs, and the founder of Netflix, Reed Hastings: http://cupertino.patch.com/articles/school-board-candidate-target-of-outside-campaign-to-rid-her
http://www.mercurynews.com/bay-area-news/ci_21896419/pac-money-floods-local-school-board-races Neighbors, who has benefited from $76,000 worth of PAC mailers and auto-calls for his candidacy and against Song, said about the PAC, "I don't know much about it."
Please reject the negative campaigning. Why are wealthy people from outside of our area trying to control our vote on the board? Why has David Neighbors not taken a stand against the negative campaigning by the PAC which is supporting him? The negative campaign pieces contain his name and his picture.
Anna Song - Governing Board Member, Santa Clara County Board of Education

David Neighbors - Board Member
(Note: Mr. Neighbors has only served 1/2 of his four year term on the Berryessa School Board prior to running for the County Board of Education.) He is being supported by an extremely well-funded PAC with undisclosed donors who don't live here. The PAC is using expensive political consultants and running a highly negative campaign to control who represents us on the county board. Please reject the negative campaigning.
